Quilts of Valor National Sew Day...

Hello my friends -

I hope that you were able to join us on Friday for Sewcial Friday Live. I had a wonderful time! If you were not able to join in the fun, you can watch the replay at https://youtube.com/live/cmZ9UjJprF8?feature=share .

In this blog post, I want to share with all of you the information that you will need to create the Quilts of Valor Block for 2024. They are using a version of the Ohio Star. Instructor Nancy Cann wrote the pattern for the Foundation. This block can be created with the Build A Quilt Basic Blocks Set 1. You will use all three of the segment blocks in that set as follows:

4- 4" finished HST's

4- 4" finished QST's

1 - 4" finished Square

You will want to create a block that finishes at 12 inches. Follow the colors as you see them in the this diagram.

It is important that you use the colors as you see them. Think about the colors in the U.S. flag and you will be okay.

You can mail your donation blocks to the following address:

Nancy Cann

attn: 2024 Quilt Block donation

709 Lukie Drive

Nicholasville, KY 40356

Make sure to wash out the stabilizer and press prior to mailing. This may require you to prewash your fabric if you are worried about shrinkage or color bleeding.

Now, if you do not wish to donate, but are part of a group that makes Quilts of Valor for those in your own community then why not make the annual QOVF National Sew Day on Feb 3, 2024 as a time to get together with your quilting friends and create blocks for your group's donation quilts.

For more information on the Quilts of Valor Foundation, please check out their website - https://www.qovf.org/

Creating a Quilt of Valor is a wonderful way to say, Thank you and You are loved, to a veteran.
